This “empty nest” couple wanted to transform their well-worn basement into an inviting space for guests, and for when their children return home with their young families. We updated the vinyl tile in the TV/rec area with luxury vinyl planking, totally updated and enlarged the bathroom, and transformed the basic laundry room into a fantastic laundry room and added a kitchenette as well.
It was definitely time to get rid of the shiny brass and hammered glass shower frame. The builder grade cabinets were starting to splinter and they were way too low. The transitional decor throughout the home was the influence for this custom vanity with furniture style “feet” as well as the custom panel facing on the tub. We kept the same footprint in this bathroom, raised the vanity, and customized the entire shower to meet this couple’s individual needs.
This builder grade kitchen was due for a complete makeover. We kept the same footprint because it was very functional and met all of the homeowner’s needs. The addition of new and improved cabinetry increased the functionality of this space even more. We faced the back of the peninsula with beautiful hardwood that add warmth to the room, and blends nicely with the family room it faces. The clutter at the end of the island has been completely eliminated. We provided the homeowner with drawers, and a base cabinet with pull-out shelves for easy access to paperwork and the other “stuff of life” that we all accumulate.
The master bathroom in this Sagamore Hills home was tiny. However, the master bedroom was huge! We saw this as a great opportunity to expand the bathroom into the master, just a bit, to make the master bathroom more comfortable for two. This young couple embraced the blue and white encaustic tile floor, which really brings this space to life! The white, custom made vanity helps to brighten-up this cheerful bathroom.
It’s all about the tub!
For years this homeowner has dreamed of having an antique claw-foot tub. Although this tub is new and improved, it still has that timeless charm. We reconfigured this entire space to make the tub the focal point upon entering the room. We were also able to increase the footprint of the shower and expand the length of the vanity, which includes a custom make-up vanity with built-in lights. The Carrara marble floors are heated for that extra layer of comfort.
Combining a laundry room with a wet bar is certainly one way to make doing laundry more fun!
Before the renovation, this room was jam-packed with boxes, pet food storage, an old refrigerator, a giant plastic utility sink and two average size doors. We cleaned-up the entire space, created a large opening that will soon have barn doors to close-off the space if the laundry pile gets to be unsightly. The wet-bar and extra counter space has proven to be very useful for parties.
